Days to Graduation: 4
I love book buyback. When I (happily) parted with my biology textbook at the bookstore today I got $55.50 for the return. Even better than the money was the fact that I don't need that book anymore. I am in another stage of studying for my biology final exam now and it only involves a few sheets of paper. The test is tomorrow 8-10 PM.

I have decided to end the poll to pick my new web address on Saturday. Hopefully everyone who visits my page at all will have cast their votes by then. My goal is to purchase the domain before leaving for California. We'll see how it goes.

Days to Graduation: 5
This morning, in the insane summer heat, I picked up my graduation tickets from the aerospace department and bought my honor cords from the bookstore. It's expensive to graduate with honors. By the way, I ended up with an A in computational linear algebra for the semester.

Days to Graduation: 6
I intended to begin the "countdown to graduation" yesterday, but I was in Tallahassee and my old desktop computer was acting up. Now I am back in Gainesville and I need to start studying for my biology final exam. Unfortunately I am watching "Star Trek: The Next Generation" on TNN instead.

Senior update: R2-D2 is wearing a garter. Actually, the Lego R2-D2 (a gift from Amy) that I put together today has my Alpha Chi Omega senior garter on his head. He looks very festive. The garter is one of our sorority's traditional senior presents. R2-D2 doesn't seem to mind that it is a cheap garter, but I kind of do.

As a graduation gift to myself I am going to buy a web domain, but I still need an address for this new page. Please take the poll that I have listed to the left and tell me which address you think I should try to reserve. If you have another idea please email it to me.

I just realized that I will be in Seal Beach, CA in one month. OK, I'll get back to studying for my computational linear algebra test (final exam, actually) that is tomorrow.

Senior update: At Eckerd's today I was asked why I was buying black hair pins (since I am blonde) and my answer was, "Because my graduation cap is black." I picked up my cap and gown this morning at the bookstore. They are made of a pretty heavy black material so it's the perfect attire for Florida in May. The first thing I did after picking up the "regalia" was exchange my cap for a larger size. Apparently my hat size is bigger than 6-7/8. I will have to go back on Monday to buy my honor cords that will complete the outfit. At least the College of Engineering tassels are orange (and not brown or gray, as I feared they would be).

Senior update: I am no longer an active sister of Alpha Chi Omega, but an alumnus instead. We had a special ceremony tonight just for graduating seniors that changed our status in the sorority. After five years it's a little strange to think of myself as an alumus. Anyway, time to get back to studying for computational linear algebra.

According to the reply from my professor, my difficulties with problem 3 of the computational linear algebra project originated from the problem itself, not from my lack of understanding. I feel better knowing that I'm not a complete moron.

I've had a good day so far, but problem 3 of my computational linear algebra project is trying to change that. After a week and three emails to my professor I still haven't been able to figure it out. While waiting for another reply I need to start studying for the final exam that is on Wednesday.

Senior week, day 5: (Friday) Amy's parents sent her a dozen roses as a graduation congratulations, and thoughtfully sent me the same. (I really need to get some "thank you" cards.) So there are two dozen roses in our little room. It looks like a funeral parlor! Anyway, the University Choirs Concert tonight was OK. More on that later.

Update: My senior buddy presented herself. Thanks Jen!

Senior week, day 4: Vega Night, a traditional Alpha Chi Omega senior event, was tonight and we were supposed to find out who our senior buddies are. Mine apparently didn't show up. My grand-little sister Tonya made Katherine and me senior goody baskets, though, which was really sweet of her. Speaking of gifts, my Aunt Carole sent me a class of 2002 Beany Baby (not sure of that spelling). It's so cute!

Senior week, day 3: I didn't want to post another update last night but Amy gave me an R2-D2 Lego set, my gift from her senior will. Very cool. I'll have to put it together before the end of the semester. Carolina's memorial was tonight so there were no senior events.

Update: Someone just dropped off a gift for me from my senior buddy - more candy. Apparently everyone thinks that the Alpha Chi Omega seniors are too thin because we have been provided with more junk food than we can (or should) possibly consume.

Senior week, day 2: Not feeling very special today. I presented my Alpha Chi Omega senior will at dinner to about twenty sisters. It was very anticlimactic. Anyway, I posted the written version on my diary page. Although most of the seniors have gotten several posters and gifts from their buddies and families I must be contented with just the one poster, I guess.

Senior week, day 1: Last night I saw that my "senior buddy" put a poster up in the back hall for me. At dinner tonight there was a separate table just for seniors. Tonight was also the last formal chapter I have to attend as a sister of Alpha Chi Omega. After five years I can actually say that.

Here's what I'm looking at: "WOGX-FOX is currently off the air due to station equipment failure." It's running across the bottom of my blank TV screen. This means I don't get to see the new X-Files episode tonight! How annoying. The good news is that most of my linear algebra project is finished.

Busy week coming up. It's senior week at Alpha Chi Omega so I have to go to dinner every night (not a usual occurance) for various activities. Today I have to work on a computational linear algebra project after more than a week of not doing any schoolwork (besides studying for a quiz on Friday). The new webpage color scheme, orange and blue, is meant to honor my last three weeks as a University of Florida student. Go Gators!

Want to know the top ten reasons I chose UCLA for graduate school? I posted them in a new diary entry. Now I've got to finish studying for my computational linear algebra quiz.

It looks like I will be getting some financial aid from UCLA! Yeah!

While gathering pictures for our Alpha Chi Omega family scrapbook page, Katherine gave me a copy of one from Rush 2000. It is one of the best photos I have and it portrays our entire family at the time (8/26/00). I posted it in the "University of Florida" section of my photo album and it is called "Preferentials 2000" since it was taken during the last round of Rush that year. In other news, I am thinking of getting my own domain so that I can have my main page, diary, and photo album on the same host. I'll explore the possibility.

I just discovered that Carolina was in my Alpha Chi Omega family. She was my great-grand-little sister and I never even met her. I almost cried when I found out.

Believe it or not, it has only been three days since I posted a diary entry and I have a new one already. Nothing exciting, just some more thoughts of mine.

No, my new webpage color scheme doesn't have anything to do with Christmas. I used the colors of Alpha Chi Omega, scarlet and olive green, in order to honor the memory of our sister Carolina Madiedo who was killed in a car accident on Friday night. Carolina, you will always be our angel.

As is usually the case with a weekend spent in Gainesville, I have posted some new pictures in my photo album. They are old Alpha Chi Omega pictures and I put them in the "University of Florida" album.

The letter read, "After carefully reviewing your application, the admissions committee has decided to decline your application." This was annoying not only because I would have written that sentence differently to avoid the use of the word "application" twice, but because it was from Cal Tech. Receiving this letter is a relief, however, because it doesn't add another layer of complexity to my graduate school decision.

It's been a while, but I thought I would post a new diary entry. Since I have devoted the rest of today to goofing off I took the time to write about a few things that have been on my mind.

The biology test was a lot easier than I thought it would be. Maybe that's because I stayed up until 3:30 AM to study for it. I probably won't get my grade for awhile, though, since our professor won't post the scores on the class webpage. Happy birthday to my roommate, Amy. She is twenty-three today.

I wish Georgia Tech would stop sending me stuff. It is hard to turn down a scholarship just to pay full price for a graduate education somewhere else. My biology test is in about twelve hours and that is making me very nervous.

Updates to the photo album. I added some new pictures to the "Trip 2000" and "Summer 2000" albums and rearranged the ones already there. Nothing too exciting, but I thought I'd mention it. Back to studying for biology.

I wish USC would stop sending me stuff. Maybe I should tell them I have no intention of going to graduate school there. Very little progress has been made in studying for biology. Maybe I should tell myself to get going.
