I hate money. After a visit to the overcrowded bookstore I had spent over three hundred dollars on textbooks. Then, when I got home, I learned about "zone calling" from my phone bill. Because my usual internet dial-up number is out of my "zone" I have an outrageous amount due to the phone company in two weeks. That'll have to be changed. I hate money.

Of all the things in LA, today I saw something very unusual. Rain. It really screwed up the flow of traffic on the freeway. Meaning it was more screwed up than usual. Somehow my car managed to look dirtier after the rain, if that's possible.

I am the only blonde in the undergraduate math class! And, believe it or not, I don't just mean females. Being white makes me a minority as well.

This is the day that I've been waiting for. The first day of fall classes at UCLA. And now that it's here I'm really nervous. I just checked my online schedule, and the good news is that I made it from the waitlist to actually being enrolled in my graduate fluids class. The bad news is that my fee deferral hasn't gone through yet. I may have to write the university a check tomorrow if that doesn't change.

The phrase "100% Polyester" is the same in eight of the fourteen languages Ikea uses to label their merchandise. Isn't that interesting? It's kind of a reflection of my life right now. At least I was able to go to Ikea today.

There's a reason I didn't get to leave the house today. I was waiting for a package to arrive. Throughout the day I wrote a diary entry explaining the very aggravating situation. Classes start on Thursday (you'll be happy to know), so sometime in the next week my life should be less dull. Let's hope.

The highlight of my day was buying a vacuum cleaner. Thank goodness classes start on Thursday. My life is pathetically boring and there's not much I can do about it. Maybe tomorrow I will vacuum in order to add some excitement to my day!

My life is so boring. Classes start next week and I can't wait. Research sure hasn't been keeping me busy, so the addition of a few courses should make things more interesting. I know I will miss these days when I am busy, even if they seem dull now. So I will do my best to take advantage of this down time while it lasts.

The holiday season has begun, even if the only indication is my diet. I just posted a diary entry about my current candy corn pumpkin stash, among other things.

Call me crazy, but I think Draco Malfoy is my favorite "Harry Potter" character.

My parents and I were in San Francisco in June and I finally scanned three pictures from the trip. They can be found in the "San Francisco 2002" section of my photo album. As I have said before, I really need to start putting pictures on my regular webpage. Anyway, I am waiting to see the "Chamber of Secrets" preview on the WB (even though I already saw it yesterday).

This might sound trivial, but I finally saw the episode of "Friends" where Chandler and Monica got married! And on Friday the Thirteenth, no less. Who says it's bad luck? In other news, check out the Pop vs. Soda webpage that was popularized by CNN this week. I have always called fizzy drinks "soda" but, according to the poll, it seems I should be saying "coke" instead.

"I'm not going to fire a ten million dollar missle at a ten dollar tent and hit a camel in the butt. When we act, it will be decisive."
President George W. Bush
I found this quote a few days after 9/11. It's a bit stereotypical, but still funny. I just posted my diary entry regarding the events of 9/11. Most of it was written last October, but I was never able to finish it to my satisfaction. One year later I think there is some closure on the subject.

My Aunt Martha passed away early this morning. I loved her very much and I will miss her.

It isn't among my best work, but I posted a diary entry I wrote tonight. Since I didn't write anything concerning September 11 last year I am planning to add my thoughts on the subject to my diary soon. I'll do my best to make it of the highest quality possible.

I was sorry to hear that the Florida Gators lost to the Miami Hurricanes in Gainesville yesterday. Supposedly it was the worst loss at home in many many years, but what can you expect playing the number one team? A win would have been great, but I don't think the actual outcome surpirsed anyone.

Of all the furniture I bought, the one thing I can't put together myself is the kitchen table. That just doesn't make sense. I need to get around to writing a diary entry so I can better explain these situations.

I put together the chair I bought today at Ikea. After I got blisters from too much needlework, that is. Assembly was not as easy as I would have liked. Now I am really dreading tackling the infinitely more complicated pieces of my collection (like the dresser). I won't really have furniture until that takes place.

Still three weeks until my classes start. At least I bought some furniture today. After the crazy ordeal of purchasing it I managed to arrange delivery on Thursday. Now I need to clean up the apartment in preparation for its arrival (and dread putting it together). After I work on this cross-stitch for my aunt some more.

Three weeks until my classes start. And so much to do. One of these days I have to actually get some furniture. Maybe by then this heat wave will be over. It was 88 degrees in my apartment this afternoon and the fans were working overtime. Welcome to September.
