Me holding Elizabeth Saunders

Things I did today:
1) Bought Dan a birthday present and card
2) Bought a bikini at Target (for less than $30)
3) Bought Dan a Valentine
4) Realized why I never have any money (see first three items)
5) Added more sites to my wedding links page
6) Posted a picture of me holding Elizabeth Saunders on December 26 (see above)

I found a wedding dress named after me. And it's gorgeous.

Pictures from this weekend are now available in the "Snow Summit 01/22/06" section of my photo album. I'll write more about the weekend later, but for now I'll say that private snowboarding lessons are worth every penny. Even if they cost $100 an hour.

Going to the gym is always a positive experience. Today I dragged myself to aerobics with only that thought to motivate me and I left with more energy than when I arrived. I wouldn't have gotten anything done tonight if I hadn't gone to work out. Plus I got to see Jim and Melissa for the first time since Halloween. I'm going snowboarding this weekend in Big Bear so right now I'm frantically doing laundry and packing. I still need to wash some dishes and make my lunch for tomorrow. There never seems to be enough time to get everything done when I get home from work. That leads me to my latest New Yearís Resolution. I need to go to bed soon. Have a good weekend!

New Yearís Resolution #2: Eat a balanced diet
Like on Friday, when my co-workers took me out to lunch for my birthday, I had a turkey burger. The burger fits this particular resolution because I need to add more protein to my diet. At least thatís how Iím justifying it. Over the past year Iíve added more fruits and vegetables to my diet, but Iím still missing out on other food groups. Also, I figured that I have a better chance of sticking to this resolution than one that eliminates foods from my diet (like sodas or sweets).

P.S. The Wild Animal Park pictures are now available in the "San Diego 2006" section of my photo album.

Dan and I spent the weekend in San Diego visiting the Wild Animal Park and looking at possible wedding venues. As far as the Wild Animal Park goes, the best way to describe it is ďstinky birds.Ē We heard another patron use those exact words after leaving the African Aviary and it seemed appropriate. Being within two inches (a glass barrier) of a lioness was amazing, though. Dan took some pictures at the park and Iíll post them as soon as I can get my hands on his camera.

After settling into our deluxe combinations at the Days Inn Mission Bay (which I wouldnít recommend due to the cockroaches), Dan and I began our tour of local hotels that hold weddings. Of the ďresortsĒ we visited yesterday, only one deserved that title and was even remotely what we were looking for in a wedding venue. Then we went to Coronado Island. We both knew we liked the Hotel Del Coronado before we began looking for a wedding site and our visit today only reaffirmed that it is our first choice. After meeting with a catering manager and touring the possible ceremony and reception sites we both knew that we want to hold our wedding there. There are still some details to work out, but we have plenty of time to figure them out. I know Iíve said it a lot lately, but Iím really excited!

"The success of 'The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe,' the first published in the C.S. Lewis series but second chronologically, is spurring plans for a sequel based on the next title, 'Prince Caspian.' Granat said work on a script is under way, with plans to tap a director within a few weeks."

Sweet. A more substantial weekend update is forthcoming.

New Year's Resolution #1: Work out at least five (ultimately six) times a week
Iíve been consistently going four days a week for awhile, but adding that fifth (and ultimately sixth) time will be difficult. So far this week I've gone four times, but I know dragging myself there after work tomorrow will be like pulling teeth.

I got contacts today. No matter how much I like my glasses I just feel prettier without them. And I was actually able to put them in my eyes without too much difficulty. That wasnít true eight years ago when I tried them for the first time. I only wore the contacts for three months then because I hated them so much. At the time I didnít have any reason to wear contacts instead of glasses. Now I have a very good reason. At my wedding, when Iím about to walk down the aisle, I want to be able to see Dan waiting for me at the other end!

Dan dropped by my apartment this evening to wish me a happy birthday. Thatís the best thing that happened all day. At noon I had to drive to Robbins Brothers in Fullerton to have my engagement ring fixed again. (Note to self: Be careful putting on sweatshirts. They can loosen the prongs on a ring.) Then when I got home I found a jury summons in my mailbox. Happy birthday to me! But seeing Dan made everything better. I love you, baby!

Is it too much to ask for something good to happen on my birthday?

Last year was the worst birthday Iíve ever had. Besides the fact that Dan was incredibly sick and couldnít get out of bed, it rained all day. In Seal Beach that means that the streets flood. And this was when I still drove my Neon that only had six inches of ground clearance. So not only was I alone, but I couldnít go anywhere either. Last year my birthday was on a Sunday so I was home all day. At least this year, since my birthday is on a Monday, I will go to work and to the gym. Thatís refreshing. Right now I need to wash some dishes, make my lunch for tomorrow, and go to bed. I turn 27 in less than two hours.

P.S. Dan and I started some preliminary wedding planning yesterday. I am more excited than ever!

Just before the proposal

If it wasnít obvious from the previous picture, Dan and I are engaged and I couldnít be happier! Thank you for all of the congratulatory messages. This picture was taken just before Dan proposed in Big Bear on December 29. It was very romantic. At this point we are planning on a summer 2007 wedding to give us plenty of time to plan. Since we got engaged I have purchased two bridal magazines in order to look for a wedding venue. Thatís probably the first decision we have to make as an engaged couple. Today I got my engagement ring resized so now it fits perfectly and I donít have to worry about it falling off. Thatís a relief. Also, I uploaded a bunch of pictures to my photo album. They are in the ďDecember 2005Ē section and include pictures from Disneyland, ďWhite Christmas,Ē and Big Bear. Now I need to get my stuff ready to go to work tomorrow. Itís been a busy day!
