Dan and I went to Florida for Thanksgiving last week and spent several busy days with our families. We had Thanksgiving dinner at his dad's house in the afternoon and then ate again at my grandparent's house that evening. The first picture was taken after that second dinner. I went shopping with the Gleasons on Black Friday, but we had limited success and didn't spend much money. On Saturday we watched the USC vs. Notre Dame game (I just wanted USC to lose, but no such luck) at Dan's dad's house. Football rivalry led to the second picture since Dan's stepmom is a Tennessee fan. Go Gators!

An update is pending. I just finished something big at work so now I have time to write. I'll post tonight when I get home.

Last night I went to see "The Santa Clause 3" because I'm a sucker for a holiday movie. Dan had no desire to see it so I figured the best time to go to the movies by myself is while he's on a business trip. I love the first Santa Clause movie, but I didn't have high expectations for the third movie since the second one was so awful. Fortunately the latest (and probably last) installment was pretty good. I'm glad I went to see it. Christmas movies always make me happy, even if they're not so good. Classics like "White Christmas" and "The Bishop's Wife" are sure winners. Maybe I'll watch one right now. 'Tis the season!

I'd definitely get this if everyone else in my family hadn't gone to Florida State.

It's great to be a Florida Gator! I watched the Gators barely beat South Carolina today and it was really nerve wracking. Three blocked kicks not only won the game for them, but also kept their National Championship hopes alive. South Carolina was just a field goal away from winning the game in the last few seconds, but yet another blocked kick assured Florida would win by one point. (That one point was also thanks to a blocked kick - an extra point field goal attempt.) Not to be disloyal, but I'm not sure the Gators are a National Championship quality team this year, but I would still love to see them play in the game. They already have a spot in the SEC Championship game on December 2nd and that won't be an easy match-up, no matter who their opponent is. For now Iím just going to be happy that the Gators are continuing to win and cross my fingers before I check the BCS polls on Monday.

As an American, I exercised my right to vote on Tuesday. In fact, I cast the first ballot at my polling place that morning. Unfortunately my vote against Arnold didn't produce the results I was hoping for. I just want to live in a state without a weird governor! I voted against Jeb Bush when I lived in Florida, but he won anyway. I've voted against The Governator twice now to no avail. In fact, I've never voted for a winning presidential candidate either. Am I seeing a trend? At least Congress has a Democratic majority now. I'm very pleased about that.

Dan and I went to the Griffith Observatory on Saturday, only the second day it was officially open after a more than four-year closure. It's a beautiful spot in the hills over Los Angeles with a great view of the Hollywood sign. My mom and I went there five years ago, just before it closed for renovations. Dan and I got tickets for the planetarium, but actually getting inside was as exciting as the actual show. The observatory staff hadn't yet learned to sell only as many tickets as there are seats in the theater. We got two of the last six seats before they had to start bringing in chairs. Otherwise we had a good time.

Here are a couple of pictures of Sarah and Jareth from Labyrinth so you can compare our Halloween costumes to the real thing. I couldn't find a good picture of both of them so these will have to do. We did pretty well with the costumes, if I do say so myself.
