Lauren's Webpage...home of the "Engineer/Troublemaker"

I'm still working on the next installment of the much-delayed wedding description (I'm only up to June 19th and 20th), but it's not quite done yet. At this rate I might be finished documenting our wedding and honeymoon by our first anniversary! In the meantime, I've been uploading honeymoon photos as fast as I can and writing thank you notes too. For anyone who will be receiving one, forgive me for being such a slowpoke with the thank you notes. I'll do my best to finish them and get them mailed by the end of the week.

From a co-worker on Monday: "Lauren, it's 6 o'clock! Why aren't you at home reading Harry Potter? I want to talk about it!"
I finished Deathly Hallows this morning. It's the end of an era, but at least it was a good end. I cried twice before I was finished reading, but I wont go into details until Dan has had a chance to read it too. Don't worry, I'll have plenty to say when he's done. Until then I'll discuss the book with anyone who wants to!

While uploading the first few of our honeymoon photos yesterday, I realized that I didn't have a picture of myself wearing the Minnie bride ears at my Disneyland "bachelorette party." So Käthe sent this one to me today. I'll write more about our Disney excursion soon, but I couldn't wait to post this picture. Thanks Käthe!
P.S. I am currently on page 215 of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.

July 8, 2000 - I was a UF student interning at Boeing for the summer living in a Seal Beach apartment with four other girls when I received my copy of Goblet of Fire. June 21, 2003 - I was a UCLA graduate student living in a studio apartment in Westwood when I received my copy of Order of the Phoenix. July 16, 2005 - I was a full time Boeing engineer when I opened the door to my Seal Beach apartment (one bedroom this time) to receive my copy of Half-Blood Prince. July 21, 2007 - Today I am still a Boeing engineer, but now I'm a happily married woman living in the house I share with my husband waiting for my copy of Deathly Hallows to arrive. Life is good!
P.S. Last night while watching the New Zealand All Blacks beat the Australian Wallabies to win the Tri-Nations Rugby Cup, I finished uploading our Professional Wedding Photos. Phew!

Monday, June 18th The weekend before the wedding was anything but relaxing. After we got back from the Police concert in Las Vegas, I worked on both Saturday and Sunday to make up some of the hours I was going to miss later in the week. Plus, I had a couple of tasks at work that absolutely had to be completed before I left for the wedding and honeymoon. Since Monday was my last day, I knew that I had to release two documents by the time I signed out that night no matter how late I had to stay. On top of that, I was getting emails and phone calls from wedding vendors all day. I was on the verge of a panic attack until I heard that the bakery that makes sugar flowers would be able to do the orchids for our wedding cake after all. That was a huge relief and I was able to calm down a little bit afterwards. My day was far from over, though. At 4 PM I left work to go to my last aerobics class before the wedding. I promised the instructor I'd be there, especially since she was excited about the wedding as I was, so I wasn't going to miss it. Then, at 6:45 PM, Dan and I had our last ballroom dance lesson in preparation for the wedding. We felt pretty confident about our dance routines when we left that night and everyone at Arthur Murray wished us luck. And then I went back to work. Finally, at 10 PM, I walked out of the Boeing facility knowing that all my work was done (And it was a good thing since I was going to be away for four weeks.) I also knew that when I got home I had to bake more wedding favor cookies and prepare the guest room for Kathe's arrival, but those were enjoyable prospects compared to work. To be continued...

I'm currently working on a multi-part series of updates to describe our wedding and honeymoon, but the first installment won't be ready for posting until sometime tonight. So before that gets started I would like to write something about a very important event that is about to take place. I will receive my copy of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows tomorrow!

Hello all! Dan and I got back from our honeymoon last Wednesday and we've been reacclimating ourselves with our Los Angeles surroundings since then. The wedding was everything we could have hoped for and the honeymoon was wonderful too, in spite of the rain. We fell in love with New Zealand while we were there and we're already planning to go back, but this time in the summer (our winter) so the weather will be more accommodating! Here's what I've been up to since we got back:
Thursday, July 12 - My first attempt to reestablish my normal routine was going to aerobics on Thursday afternoon. The ladies there were so excited when I walked in the door because they weren't expecting me until Monday. It was so nice to see them again and I brought a few wedding photos to share. I hadn't been to the gym in almost a month so the aerobics class was really difficult, but it was the first step to getting myself back in shape.
Friday, July 13 - After spending all of Friday sorting through four week's worth of emails at work, I picked up an external hard drive at Best Buy on my way home to hold the 1500 pictures we took on our honeymoon, as well as the two DVDs of professional wedding photos. (I'm currently in the process of uploading photos to my Flickr account, but it's taking a long time because each picture is quite large. I'll let you know when I'm done.) On Friday night there was a New Zealand All Blacks rugby game on TV that Dan and I were determined to watch. We weren't able to watch an All Blacks game when we were actually in New Zealand (long story) so we didn't want to this this one, even though it started after midnight PST. Ordering the channel from Direct TV wasn't a simple matter, but watching them beat Australia South Africa was worth it!
Saturday, July 14 - Dan and I went to see "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix" at the theater at 11:30 AM since I wanted to see it before the last book came out. I really liked the movie, but it might have been because I've read the book multiple times and I understood exactly what was going on. Dan wasn't as enthusiastic about it as I was. (In preparation for the release of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows on Saturday I started reading book 6 when we got home that evening. I can't wait for my copy of book 7 to arrive!) Also on Saturday, Dan washed both of our cars to remove the "just married" decorations, courtesy of our wedding party, as well as the dirt that accumulated on them while we were out of the country.
Now that things are starting to get back to normal, my immediate goals are to finish the wedding thank you cards and get as many wedding/honeymoon photos uploaded as possible. When I'm finished, all of the pictures from the wedding will be in my Wedding Photos collection, which includes the Professional Wedding Photos set. I'll post more links when I get the honeymoon pictures uploaded as well.
