Dan and I decided on a Star Wars theme for our Halloween costumes this year! No time for more explanation now, but more pictures from the annual Halloween party can be found in my Halloween 2007 Flickr set.

And the Gators lose again...for the third time this season.

I spent the first half of the football game making pumpkin dip and tortilla chips to take to the Halloween party tonight. On the other side of the country, Florida spent the first half getting overmatched by Georgia. They'll go into the second half down by four points. Oh my. This season of college football is very stressful for Gator fans.

The Florida vs. Georgia football game has been bizarre so far. The score is tied currently, but not without some unusual plays on both sides. Let's hope the rest of the game goes in the Gator's favor.

One of my coworkers has an insane amount of snack food on his desk, including brownies, M&Ms, and assorted Halloween candy. Besides the Mickey Mouse ice cream bar I had at Disneyland yesterday I ate mostly healthy foods over the weekend and I need to keep that trend going. So I walked away from the junk food desk without taking anything. It's a miracle!

Gators win! Despite giving up a touchdown on the last play after the clock ran out, the Gators still walked off the field as the winners. That two-touchdown lead saved them in the end. With Kentucky beating LSU last weekend and South Carolina losing earlier today the SEC standings are going to change this week in UF's favor. Even though they're not at the top of the BCS rankings this year, the Gators are definitely the best two-loss team (even the CBS announcers were saying that), so we'll see how far they can run with it. GO GATORS!

The Gators are leading at the half! This is good news, but they went into the locker room in the same situation two weeks ago against LSU. Here's hoping for a different outcome today! While the Gators spent the first half scoring points, I picked out some recipes for dinner tonight - garlic slow cooker chicken, rice, and broccoli salad. I'll go to the grocery store when the football game is over. Hopefully I'll have a reason to be in a good mood then!

I'm starting to think that my watching the Gator football games is cursing them. As soon as I turned on the game (about four minutes into the first quarter) Kentucky scored a touchdown. Sheesh. At least the Gators were able to answer with a touchdown of their own on the next drive. Crossing my fingers didn't work two weeks ago when they played LSU so I won't try that again, but I'm still hoping for the Gators to be victorious today. This season has already been a rollercoaster and I don't think the fans can handle another loss. With LSU losing to Kentucky last weekend the SEC is in even greater turmoil, which will probably work in UF's favor. Now they have a chance to get back into the race. Let's see how this game goes.

Out of all our wedding photos, this is the one that's hanging on the wall in our living room. From Craig taking a bite of Nina's flowers to John gagging it's just really funny. We love it. Plus, it's one of the best shots of my dress, my veil, and the orchids in my hair. And Dan looks pretty good too! My husband is definitely my best accessory.

I love the smell of cranberries cooking on the stove! I'm making the chutney so it'll be ready for dinner tomorrow night. Now all I need is some chicken and we'll have a wonderfully festive fall meal. There's still some pumpkin dip in the fridge from Saturday so maybe I can include both seasonal staples with dinner. Yummy.

The New Zealand vs. France Rugby World Cup match was aired on Setanta Sports yesterday, but I held off watching it because Dan was at work. With the Cubs removing themselves from the MLB postseason and the Gators removing themselves from the National Championship race on Saturday, Dan and I weren't quite ready for anoter sports letdown. I was looking forward to watching the match when we got home tonight, but then I found out that New Zealand lost too! Not only did they lose, but they also removed themselves from the Rugby World Cup. Are we seeing a trend here? This weekend amounted to a sports trifecta - losses in baseball, football, and rugby. At least for our favorite teams. It's all very depressing. I'll still watch the Gator football game on Saturday, though. Hope springs eternal.

It's that time of year again when I have a driving urge to use either pumpkin or cranberries in every meal that I prepare. (Case in point, I made pumpkin dip and cinnamon-sugar tortilla chips as a side dish for the lasagna we had for dinner last night.) So in preparation for the coming week, Dan and I went to Whole Foods Market this morning and bought about six different kinds of fruit, including fresh cranberries. I haven't been able to find them since last December so I was really excited. But now that I have them, I can't decide what recipe I want to make first. I'll probably make some chutney to go with either chicken or pork chops later this week, but I have big plans to make bread, cobbler, and jello at some point this fall. I love seasonal cooking.

I guess the finger-crossing didn't work because the Gator just lost their second game in a row. The worst part is that they just gave it away in the fourth quarter with a fumble, an interception, and absolutely no defense at all. So the season is pretty much over for them. A team can recover from one loss (like last year's loss to Auburn), but it's nearly impossible to recover from two losses. The Gators still have some pretty good games coming up, but they're out of the running for the National Championship. I hope some other team can capitalize on USC's loss this year. It'll probably be LSU. Crap.

Last season the one thing that allowed the Gators to play for the National Championship was UCLA beating USC late in the season. So when this season started I knew the big question for the Gators would be, who's going to beat USC this year? We just found out, and the answer is Stanford. Now if the Gators can hold on to beat LSU the rest of the year will be a whole new ballgame. No pun intended. My fingers are still crossed!

The third quarter just started and the Gators are leading LSU by 10 points. I've got my fingers crossed!

Since I woke up at 5 PM I've had a peach smoothie, a taco, and a piece of peach pie to eat. Considering my work schedule, I'm not sure if that was dinner or breakfast. At least this is my last night working the night shift so my schedule will return to normal on Wednesday. Hooray!
