I know I haven't been keeping my webpage updated, but how could I not post on Leap Day?

Just as I'm getting back to the gym after my horrific cold, it's time for another business trip! I'm leaving for DC tomorrow morning and I'll be there until Sunday. I've already packed three sets of gym clothes so I can use the hotel's fitness center, but the hard part will be making myself go in between the 12+ hour work shifts. Plus I get to work the night shift again!

OK, so I don't have the flu. But I do have some sort of bug that's kept me in bed (at least most of the time) for the past four days. My fever only lasted for about six hours on Saturday so when it was gone the label of "flu" was no longer applicable. The fact that I now have to tote a box of kleenex around with me everywhere I go is a sign that I'm getting better. That's a good thing because I really have to go to work tomorrow. Plus, tomorrow is Dan's 30th birthday! I dragged myself out of bed this evening to make his birthday cake - a cheesecake at his request (which was actually pretty easy). It's still in the oven so I hope it turns out all right. Like last year, there is fresh grated lemon zest in the recipe, but unlike last year Dan wasn't around to "enhance" the batter when my back was turned! I still need to find an outfit to wear out on our annual jaunt to Ruth's Chris Steakhouse dinner tomorrow night. Unfortunately all I feel like doing is retreating to my sickbed where my book and remote control are waiting to comfort me. I'm so lazy. Gotta go take the cheesecake out of the oven!

Ugh. I think I have the flu...again. And Dan's coming back from a ten day business trip tomorrow. Perfect time to get sick!

So I skipped my workout today. I know I let my iPod down, but at least my muscles are happy.

After five consecutive days at the gym I'm not sure my muscles will be prepared for tomorrow's workout, but at least my iPod will. As I was waiting for "Lost" to start (watching "The Daily Show" and "The Colbert Report" - a good use of my time) I added more than thirty more songs to my playlist. Now I won't have to listen to the same eight songs while I'm struggling to keep up the pace on the elliptical. I never thought I would say this about going to the gym, but I'm really excited!

The piece of the International Space Station that I worked on during my internship in the summer of 2000 finally launched today! And only four years late. According to the MSNBC article, the Columbus lab "has endured space station redesigns and slowdowns, as well as a number of shuttle postponements and two shuttle accidents." So I suspect I'm not the only one who's excited to hear that it finally launched!

My vote was effective! Clinton won California!

Later in the day I found my "I Voted" sticker stuck in my hair. Weird. I wonder if everyone else noticed it and just didn't bother to tell me. That sounds like something my coworkers would do. And for the record (and to appease Dave's curiosity), I voted for Hillary Clinton. I just don't like Obama. The polls haven't closed in California yet so we'll have to wait a bit longer to see how she fared in my home state.

I lost my "I Voted" sticker! I knew I shouldn't have worn my courduroy blazer today. But I swear I voted! I was the second person at the polls this morning. I've done my civic duty!

So tomorrow is Super Tuesday. Yes, I will be voting before I go to work in the morning, and I finally decided who I'm going to vote for. I'm not a huge fan of either Obama or Clinton, but I've picked one. This is my opportunity to help choose the Democratic presedential candidate, and possibly our next president, so I take it very seriously. And since the race is so close in California now my vote might actually make a difference! We'll see how it turns out tomorrow.
But right now it's time to watch Terminator.

I've gotten into the habit of going to the movies when Dan is on business trips because there are films I want to see that he wouldn't be caught dead at. Like "Becoming Jane" and "Enchanted," both of which I saw last fall while he was out of town (and both of which I really enjoyed). So because Dan is in Denver this week I went to see "Atonement" yesterday afternoon. I've you've seen this movie you know why it was nominated for the Best Picture Oscar. It was absolutely wonderful! Great story and beautifully executed. I loved it. (Though I still think of James McAvoy as Leto II from "Children of Dune.") At least now I've seen one of the movies nominated for Best Picture this year.

Seeing the Prince Caspian trailer makes watching the Super Bowl (even though I couldn't care les who wins) worthwhile!
