Even though I don't really care who wins, I'm watching the last few innings of the Angels vs. Yankees because it's been really exciting. Right now the Angels are ahead (again), but only by one run so it could go either way. And during the commercial breaks I'm catching up on nine years of Homestar Runner Halloween cartoons. Gotta love October! I took the day off from work because I wanted to get a few things done, but it didn't turn out the way I planned. As far as my belated obligations are concerned, I actually did get one important errand done today - I dropped off some clothes at the cleaners just a few minutes before they closed. This doesn't sound like much, but otherwise this day might have been a complete loss. I failed to pick up Dan's car at the BMW dealer today because there was still something wrong with it when I tried to drive it home. The good news is that they found the lingering problem and I can get it (or at least attempt to) tomorrow. I did make it to the gym for my aerobics class this afternoon, which is a good thing because I'm probably going to miss both of my usual Friday classes due to work obligations. I have to be in at 6 AM tomorrow and I suspect I'll be too busy to go to kickboxing at lunchtime. I'll bring my gym bag, though, just in case. But right now I'm just going to concentrate on relaxation and try to go to bed early. That's exactly what I need.

In case you were wondering, no, I haven't made any progress on my obligations. But tomorrow is another day!

It's been a while so hopefully I can get away with a list today.

1) I heard the Beach Boys' "I Get Around" at the gym today and I realized that most of the kids in my generation know that song because of the movie "Flight of the Navigator." Then I remembered that I have that movie on DVD at home and I've never watched it. Add that to the list of things to do this weekend.
2) I was pleased to discover "Hocus Pocus" is going to be on ABC Family next weekend because I don't want to pay to download it on iTunes and the only DVD copy at the library has been checked out all month. It's just on Halloween without watching "Hocus Pocus" and laughing at how cheesy it is!
3) Dan and I are hosting the annual Halloween party this year. So on Saturday Dan decorated the outside of the house and the front yard with lights and tombstones. It looks great. The inside of the house is going to have to wait until I get around to cleaning it (or paying someone else clean it). Plus, I really need to figure out a costume!
4) It looks like I'm going to have to go on a couple of business trips to DC before the end of the year. Right now I'm supposed to travel out there for a week before Thanksgiving (flying back the Friday beforehand), and then go back the week after Thanksgiving. And since Dan and I are going to Florida for the actual Thanksgiving holiday, that translates into a lot of flight time in the next two months. At least I get frequent flier miles!
5) After a week of working second shift, I'm back to my regular schedule. Not only my work hours, but my workouts too. I missed my usual classes last week and it was really hard to motivate myself to try any other form of exercise. The Tae Bo class I went to last Friday at lunchtime was fantastic, though. I'm going to have to add that one to my usual routine. If you haven't noticed before, my workouts are a crucial part of my daily life.
6) I've been putting off a lot of obligations lately and I'm not feeling good about it. I keep telling myself I'll run the necessary errands tomorrow, but "tomorrow" never comes. Why can't I just get up off my butt and get things done? Just naturally lazy, I guess, which is pretty obvious by my extremely sporadic posts. I really need to work on being more responsible. Stop by tomorrow and see if I've made any progress.

As Käthe has pointed out, it sounds like we're taunting them, but it's an honest to goodness, tried and true football cheer - "Come on Gators, get up and go!"

I've been watching football and searching for recipes online this afternoon. Even though Florida isn't playing this weekend (thank goodness since it gives Tebow another week to recover after last Saturday's concussion), that doesn't mean there aren't some good games on. I'm most interested in the result of the LSU vs. Georgia game that is very close right now because the Gators are playing the Tigers next weekend. Dan and I have also been switching to the Penn State vs. Illinois game during the commercial breaks. And as the games have been progressing, I've been looking for cookie and bread recipes for Thanksgiving. My plan is to make two kinds of bread and several kinds of cookies to take with us to Florida next month. It's pretty much the only contribution I can make to our Thanksgiving dinner(s) since we're traveling across the country. The flavors I would like to highlight are pumpkin, cranberry, and pecan, and I think I've got the recipes I need to do that. I love baking (especially fall baking) and I'm really looking forward tasting the finished products.
