Pumpkin bundat cake I made for our Halloween party My famous lasagna. Yum!

Until I get around to posting the photos of our Christmas tree, here are some pictures of yummy food I've made recently. The first photo is of the pumpkin bundt cake I made for our Halloween party. It looked great, but no one actually ate any during the party. It tasted pretty good the next day, though! The second photo is of my delicious lasagna I made earlier in the fall. That picture makes me mouth water. I really do make the best lasagna in the world.

By the way, the photos I posted on Tuesday were meant to illustrate the fact that winter has arrived in Los Angeles. The first picture is of the ice that was covering my windshield that morning before I left for work. There was so much of it that my wipers were frozen! Strange for LA. The second picture didn't really turn out all all (thanks to the primitive camera on my cell phone), but there are gorgeous snow-covered mountains in the background. Trust me. Los Angeles has beautiful views after a winter rain storm.

It's been a great weekend so far! Yesterday Dan and I got a fantastic Christmas tree from the Hermosa Beach Kiwanis and spent several hours decorating it while it rained cats and dogs outside. We were really lucky to get the tree home before the heavens opened up. While decorating the tree we discovered that we have already accumulated way too many ornaments! I assumed a couple had to be married for a long time before that happened, but there were barely enough branches on our tree for all of the ones we have now. Between the ornaments Dan and I had before we were together and the ones we've inherited from our families, we need quite a large tree to accommodate them all. This year's tree turned out great, though. I love having it in the living room where I can see it when I'm making dinner or watching TV. It makes me smile. Plus, it reminds me to enjoy the holiday season even though it's busy and stressful. Last year I just put up my little pre-lit artificial tree because Dan and I were going to be in New Zealand for the holidays. It was a bit anticlimactic. Granted, Christmas in New Zealand was amazing, but having a beautiful tree at home makes the rest of December just hat much better. Pictures to come!

There are way too many books that I want to buy next year. All of my favorite authors are releasing new books in a few months. So if anyone was wondering what I might like for Christmas, some sort of book store gift card would definitely be the way to go!

Today is a prime example of why I do my best not to be an obnoxious football fan. Even though Florida has been ranked #1 all season, I never assumed the Gators were going to win the SEC title. I was hopeful of course, but at the same time I was absolutely petrified they were going to lose to their BCS #2 ranked opponent. And unfortunately it turned out I was right to be scared. Alabama played like a championship team today and I'm rooting for them to win it all in January. (And I hope Mark Ingram wins the Heisman too.) I wish it could have been a Gator victory today, but as I've said before, anything can happen in college football. When the game was over I was pretty upset, but I stopped feeling sorry for myself when I saw Tim Tebow crying on the sidelines. That broke my heart. I just hope that the folks who are taking shots at Florida right now remember that more than likely your team doesn't have any bragging rights this year either (FSU and USC fans, I'm looking at you).

I'm just about too nervous to watch this football game. My heart is racing. GO GATORS!

I finally redeemed the "Please Accept Our Apology" voucher that I got from United on one of my flights in November and it turned out to be worth 9000 frequent flier miles! I wasn't expecting nearly that much. And all that because the little personal video screen for my seat wouldn't let me watch Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince! I complained and one of the flight attendants gave me the voucher. I need to complain more often!
